Thus, it's outlaws who are the most likely to do anything heroic, if anybody - and yes, they often look punk as hell. Elves and fairies live in filthy slums, giants are forced to work in factories, people are occasionally ground up between gears and machinery as punishment, kemonomimi races are forced into slavery, tribes and communities living in the wilderness are being displaced and oppressed, and often, it seems like the only real freedom lies in being a sky pirate, if you aren't living in some remote, untouched community deep in the wilderness. Industrialists (primarily dwarves, with some human helpers) are demanding exorbitant taxes from people, and are up to the colonialist stuff which you'd expect.

It's a steampunk world which really does have the punk element - while everything might appear to be bright, happy or fun on a shallow level, things are actually pretty fucked up.
